Good morning New Street Family,
Today we hear the story of Elizabeth and Zachariah who are faultless in their faith, but also childless and elderly. We get to know their struggles, shame, fears and doubts. As the story unfolds we see that in God's answers their prayers, and blesses them both.
Today's special music is "Here Comes the Light" sung by the New Street UMC Chancel Choir and complemented by pictures of handmade ornaments from the Children's Christmas Tree in Wesley Hall.
“Because of our God’s deep compassion, the dawn from heaven will break upon us, to give light to those who are sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide us on the path of peace.” Luke 1:78-79 (CEB)
On this second Sunday in Advent we light the candle of peace which represents the peace that the coming of Christ brings to the world. Emanating Light, show us your path of peace. Still our hearts long enough to hear your promise of fulfillment. Amen.
In this season of Advent: May God give us hearts that are open to hope, feet that stand firm on God’s promises, eyes that are alert to the ways Christ comes among us, and hands that are ready to work for God’s kingdom. In the name of Jesus, our coming king we pray. Amen.
Blessings!
