It is Transfiguration Sunday. Pastor Dee-Ann discusses how Peter, James, and John were in awe in the presence of the transfigured Christ. Think in the past of your first glimpse of Christ. Were you also in awe? How were you changed by that experience? There is lots of light in today's musical selection which is “Here Comes the Light” sung by the New Street UMC Chancel Choir.
“As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed and his clothes flashed white like lightening….Then a voice from the cloud said, ‘This is my Son, my chosen one. Listen to him!’” Luke 9:29, 35 (CEB)
God, source of awe and mystery, as your presence caused Moses’ face to shine with your glory, may your presence in our time of worship cause our lives to shine with your glory. Reveal the glory of Christ to us this day, as you revealed it to Peter, James and John on the mountaintop long ago. Transform our worship with the light of discovery, that our souls might shine the light of Christ into a world in need of your love. Amen.
Go to love one another, for you are beloved. Go to honor one another, for you are honored. Go to share life with one another, for you have been given life. Go with the power of God, whose Spirit is always with us and always guiding us.
I hope you enjoy this week's online service. Please share it with family and friends. Blessings!
