Pastor Dee-Ann discusses "the body of Christ" brings the captive, blind, and the oppressed, the last, least, and the lost and opens the doors to all people. The New Street UMC Chancel Choir and the Johnston Bell Memorial Handbell Choir performs “Music of the Morning” with Beth Brennan on flute.
“Christ is just like a human body – a body is a unit and has many parts; and all the parts of the body are one body, even though there are many. We were all baptized by one Spirit into one body, whether Jew or Greek, or slave or free; and we all were given one Spirit to drink.” I Corinthians 12:12-13 (CEB)
Surprising, sustaining, Giver of grace, you make us part of your holy body, awakening us with glimpses of your glory. You allow us to see shadows of your astonishing beauty in the deep, bright blue of the winter sky. Your frosty breath leaves sheets of shimmering ice on windshields and doorsteps. You make our words write trails of steam in the crisp morning air. You invite us into your very breath – as the Holy Spirit breaths us into awareness of your loving presence. In our prayers, in our songs, and in our silence, teach us how to be your holy body, to bring good news to world that yearns for you. Amen.
Go to love one another, for you are beloved. God to honor one another, for you are honored. Go to share life with one another, for you have been given life. Go with the power of God, whose Spirit is always with us and always guiding us. Amen.
Blessings!
